I had hoped that the recent story on how the EU was going to ban olive oil jugs & dipping bowls in restaurants was either a scare story invented by the press or a belated April Fool. Sadly it would appear that this is actually true.

I am repeatedly appalled by some of my MEP colleagues and their never ending demands for more taxpayers' money. Earlier this year, David Cameron successfully negotiated with other Heads of Government to reduce the EU budget for the first time in 56 years.

A planned visit to Iran by a delegation of left-wing MEPs on 26th April is an appalling act of naivety and will send mixed signals about our resolve towards the regime.

There are numerous parallels between these islands in the South Atlantic and the ‘Rock’ of Gibraltar. Both territories are populated by people who want to remain British. Both are threatened by a foreign power that wishes to change that relationship without their consent.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Barn Owl Centre near Gloucester to see the good work that the Charity are doing to reintroduce injured wild owls back into the wild and ensuring that unwanted domesticated owls have round the clock care. The Centre sits on a twelve acre farm to the south of Gloucester City and currently has over sixty-five owls and other birds of prey on in their care.
