Ashley Fox, Conservative MEP for the South West of England and Gibraltar, has warmly welcomed the latest investment by Honda into its Wiltshire based facility. Honda have revealed that they intend to develop the next generation of the Honda Civic in its Swindon plant with a projected investment of £200m.
Mr Fox, commenting after the announcement, said “This is excellent news, this investment will secure jobs and is a real shot in the arm for the regional manufacturing sector.”
“Today’s announcement follows last week’s news of a £580m contract between the Ministry of Defence and Somerset based AgustaWestland and is another major boost to the South West economy. This a sign of the confidence that the Japanese car manufacturer has in the strength of the UK economy and the highly skilled local work force.”
