Ashley Fox, Conservative MEP for the South West of England and Gibraltar, has warmly welcomed the Chancellor's cut on both Beer and Cider Duty.
"The beer and pub sector sustains 91,600 jobs in the region and adds over £1.8 billion to the regional economy. Cider production in the South West is an art form with many skilled producers scattered throughout the region," comments Mr Fox. "I will certainly be raising a glass (or two) to this very welcome news."
"With the cider industry now under threat due to a recent ruling by the EU Commission on the UK tax regime that aids small scale producers, knowing that the Chancellor of the Exchequer is supportive of this South West tradition will be welcome news indeed."
